Oh, I understand, I feel both sides of this. We certainly can't afford 4 cats and a dog but certainly don't have any other option at this point; though I did tell my husband I was jealous of the dog.
(What, he'll sit on your lap... no, I wanted to sit on your lap DH).

I understand the NEED for a dog who can understand you better than that family. I had a family issue this week, my ONLY direct relative left, my DEAR sister, called me this wk because an aunt called her (about another aunt's death)and this incited my sister to dredge up every horrible thought about how our dad's funeral went wrong (which of course I never thought it did)because of me.
and how she'll never talk to me again (yeah right).
And yes, Dogs and cats never (or almost never) treat you that way!

so, yeah. I get it.
