My DW and I had dinner last night with my nephew, who was passing through on his way back to school. He's 27 years old, long hair and beard, working on his third master's degree in something or the other, plans to go on and get a doctorate in the next several years, and then plans to teach somewhere in a small college. He doesn't need a lot of money to live the life he thoroughly enjoys. He seemed very happy and content with himself and his life overall. I couldn't help but think of the days when I had long hair and a beard, over 30 years ago. Now, I can't help but wonder which one of us made the right choice. I became a suited professional, made good money, had a lot of so-called power, and retired early. I only hope my son can find a pleasant mix between what his father has done and what his cousin is doing. I wonder what Jimmy B would have to say about all of this?
