Pixy --

Very good article. Your experiences with your father are similar to mine with my mother and an aunt, both now deceased.

My wife and I are in our mid 50's and work out regularly and moderately although we don't claim to be in ideal shape. When we are at the mall and see someone hunched over with osteoporosis or severely obese and struggling to get around, one of inevitably says to the other "You planning to get up tomorrow and work out?" To us seeing the results of too much inactivity is the greatest motivator we have.
