In response to "Why I'm Never Using Priceline Again" I'd like to give my thoughts on and experiences with Priceline.

I have used Priceline quite successfully to purchase hotel rooms and groceries. I have never used it to purchase airline tickets mainly because I have anticipated some of the problems that were described in the original post. I suppose I've become wary of certain things over the years. (We once had to fly from Newark to Detroit to get to Amsterdam on a frequent flyer ticket).

Priceline is going to get you the deal that matches the parameters you give them. If you're not willing to fly in the middle of the night, from an airport that is inconvenient or make an out of the way connection then think twice about the parameters you let them work with. Visualize the worst possible outcomes and think about whether you can live with it. I do agree that Priceline should warn about the taxes (shame on Priceline).

Did you read the rules and fine print first? There are a lot of rules governing playing the Priceline game that may not be apparant. It's a pain in the neck to read it all but you may avoid a headache later. I guess what it all comes down to is "Buyer Beware" and "You Get What You Pay For". They aren't giving this stuff away. You can get good deals but you have to be careful.
