Hello there.

I am having difficulty discerning the difference between Yahoo finance and TMF's info on a company's P/E ratio. Please can someone help me figure this out?

Eni s.p.a. (Ticker: E) shows a P/E ratio of 16.6 on TMF's CAPS page, and Yahoo lists the trailing P/E as 3.98 and the forward as 10.3. How do I reconcile these, and which one do I trust? Yahoo seems much more appealing to me (in terms of prospecting when compared to other oil co.'s P/E's). Could the difference have anything to do with what sort of earnings the two are using to compute the ratio?

Thanks for any help
