You guys are going to LOVE this one.

When I lived in the dorms, I was on a specialty floor, where half of the residence were science and engineering majors, and the other half were other majors. There was a high concentration of engineers to begin with, as Helser hall is in the engr side of Iowa State's campus.

I noteed a trend where HP users tended to be IBM fans, where TI users tended to be Macintosh fans. Now, I'm not talking what you use at work/school - it seems that the world runs on PC in general, BUT what do you prefer to use?

Thanks for your time!!

Cool, another grrrrl engineer...I think we are in the minority here just like in USENET ng sci.engr

I've never used a MAC, only DOS/WINDOWS based machines or UNIX machines. I prefer UNIX to WinDoze.

I never had the opportunity/need to use an HP calculator - when I was in EE school, my employer (TI) provided me with a TI-95...

Well, back when I was an Engineering Student (EE). I started out with an HP15C....and later upgraded to the HP28S and then the HP48SX. Computer wise, I was using an Amiga 1000.....these days, I'd rather be using Unix...though I suffer with Windows only because I have to.

If it weren't for Microsoft and Windows...and the demise of the Amiga....I'd probably be running a Mac as my personal machine.

Meanwhile...after I got out of University....I picked up an HP42S, and more recently I picked up an(other) HP15C and an HP16C off of eBay (to use at work)...each for more than what the calculators sold for when they were new.

The Dreamer.

When I was in school we used a K&E Decilon (SP?) or a Picket.

How is Iowa State these days?

Having spent far too much time studying aero e and not enough time enjoying campus life, I have a glamorized fondness for the campus. Is central campus still as beautiful as it was 15 years ago?

Go Clones!

Ahh... the park-like campus with trees and bushes and grass... it's still as wonderful as you remember on your walks from engineering row to "that other" side of campus. I came to Iowa State for that very reason - and one college education later, the landscaping is still beautiful.

GO CYCLONES!! Second bowl trip in two years... what is the world coming to?? :)
