Hey Everyone,

I don't know about y'all, but these X10 camera ads are really annoying. I know you can turn them off for 30 days, but I'm too lazy to go and do it. Check X10's website if you want to do it though.

Although, it's the first time I've actually noticed and remembered a internet ad for several years.

A lot of sites have started doing pop-ups now. I've gotten several pop up ads for Given the media publicity around the X10, I would expect quite a few more sites to start doing these pop-ups unless there is a public outcry against them.

They have really hit the big time with Jupiter Media Metrix ranking the X10 site in the top 10 monthly visited sites in all of the WWW. It seems no longer these ads will be restricted to pron sites or tripod homepages.

The ads seem to to drive heightened user interest, and are the most successful thing working right now in capturing the surfer's attention. Now given the internet ad industry in general is transistioning from a pay per click through basis to a more pay through impressions basis - these pop ads could be worth big bucks to advertisers. I think some big boys are taking notice.

So, I guess what I'm trying to say is - Do you think this marks the bottom of the internet ad industry? Will these annoying pop-ups bring back Yahoo! from the dead?

It's possible.

What do you think?
