EAST HARTFORD, Conn., Feb 27, 2002 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ -- Boeing Capital Corporation and Ansett Worldwide have selected the Pratt & Whitney PW4060 engine to power nine Boeing 767-300ER aircraft. The first aircraft delivery is scheduled for September 2002. The value of the contract to Pratt & Whitney is approximately $185 million.

"We are extremely excited to be chosen by Boeing Capital and Ansett Worldwide for these engines," said Robert F. Leduc, Pratt & Whitney chief operating officer and president of Pratt's Commercial Engines business. "We are confident that they will benefit from the outstanding capabilities, in- service experience, and reliability that these engines have to offer," Leduc said.

"As an aircraft lessor, we're especially conscious of long-term value," said Scott Scherer, vice president and general manager of Boeing Capital's Aircraft Financial Services group. "The PW4060 offers us a combination of high reliability, low operating cost and compatibility with many airlines' existing fleets."

Commenting on the transaction, Charles Graham, CEO of Ansett Worldwide, said, "In the past our specialty has been outstanding asset management skills supported by strong technical and operational experience. Our new strategy is to develop our customer base by leveraging these skills to add real value to our business relationships. Our business approach is to determine what our customers need and then tailor specific solutions."

The PW4000 family of engines powers not only the Boeing 767, but also most other wide-body aircraft built by Boeing and Airbus. More than 60 airlines around the world operate PW4000s. The three models, with fan diameters of 94 inches, 100 inches and 112 inches, can produce anywhere from 52,000 to 98,000 pounds of thrust. The 98,000-pound version of the engine is the most powerful in service today in commercial aviation.

Boeing Capital Corporation is a global, full-service financier. In addition to loans and leases for commercial jet airplanes, Boeing Capital also finances a wide variety of commercial equipment, including business aircraft, in addition to space and defense products.

Ansett Worldwide, the world's third largest aircraft leasing company, currently owns 176 aircraft with a total value of approximately USD5 billion and these aircraft are on lease to 69 airline customers in 41 countries around the world.
