Predicting the demise of Windows based on the hype of the newest popular technology concept is... premature at best.

You don't need cloud computing to kill Windoze, a smarter thin client (a browser running HTML5) and WebApps are all that are needed. The WebApp does not need to reside on the cloud or even on the Internet, it could be hosted on the users PC or on his local network. It's not hardware but software that can kill Windoze. I'm not saying this will happen but, if it does, the deed will be done by software, Open Source software, to boot. I think IBM did a smart thing embracing Linux et al.
