Last week I showed the Neilsen ratings for the Oscars.
Well, not to be under-done, the ratings are in for Biden's first address to Congress.
Despite having the largest network coverage of any other Presidential Address (16 or them) PLUS Neilsen for the first time added "Connected TV" or CTV, which, as I understand it, includes an estimate of all streaming services delivered not only to TVs but to any electronic internet-connected device. So with all that market penetration, one might expect Biden's address bubbling all the way to the top...or very close to it. Well, if you guessed that, you guessed wrong. Biden's address drew the smallest audience going back 28 years to Clinton's first address.
Combined # President - Year

38,382,000 G.W. Bush - 05
37,752,613 Obama - 12
37,515,000 G.W Bush - 08

33,497,607 Obama - 13

31,710,349 Obama - 15
31,478,000 Clinton - 00
31,334,349 Obama - 16
26,900,000 Biden - 21
Notice that viewership tends to be higher early in the President's tenure and then trails off. But despite all the media coverage, Biden's first address couldn't even get close to Obama's last one in 2016 where voters told him they were tired of his administration and the sooner he left town, the better.
What might be a better measure is the average of all addresses per President
Clinton.....45,619,375
G.W Bush....45,015,000
Trump.......44,313,500
Obama.......38,845,829
Biden.......26,900,000
Again, American's are voting with their remotes. I wonder if the Biden Administration is getting the message.
I doubt it
