An Interview with TMFUltraLong

Last updated: 11/24/2010
The Fool:
Does ethics or 'socially responsible investing' have a place in your investment approach? How so? How not?
Generally friends know me as the Eric Cartman of the investing world. I see every year how well the Vice Fund performs and I just can't see why I'd change my investing style if some of the easiest "gimme's" are in the non-socially responsible sectors.
The Fool:
Have you had a brush with fame, the proverbial '15 minutes'? Tell us about it.
Funny you ask... I just started writing for the Motley Fool two months ago and now I'm part of their staff. I finally have my name in print, that counts for 15 minutes of fame right? We'll see where that leads won't we?
The Fool:
What was the most significant discovery of the last century?
The computer... how on Earth would we be able to connect with each other without this great piece of machinery. Notice I didn't say the internet because nothing would be possible without the advent on the computer.

My Story

Blame everything on Robert Shaw, my 12th grade Government/Economics teacher who entered us into the Stock Market Game 2000 contest where my selection jumped 90% in 2 months. Thus was born my love for the stock market when I realized I could do that with real money! While in college I would trade in between classes with my trading style becoming more buy-and-hold as time passes by. Since I've joined the Fool in 2010 I've been lucky enough to do a few radio interviews and even get picked up by ABC Nightline. I consider myself perhaps the lone bear of the bunch around here and Mr. Contrarian among a sea of Fools.

How I Invest

Generally I'm looking for unique situations and/or companies that are trading way out of their normal deviations. Considering it fundamentally based, but using technical support levels to aid with entry and exits point. Hold time tends to be one to five years.
