REENVILLE, S.C., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- KEMET Corporation (NYSE: KEM - news) today reported sales and earnings for the fiscal quarter ended September 30, 2001. Net sales of $120.6 million for the September 2001 quarter decreased 67% compared with $364.0 million for the September 2000 quarter, and decreased sequentially 21% from the $152.7 million reported for the June 2001 quarter. Net earnings in the September 2001 quarter of $1.0 million, or $0.01 per diluted share, were down from $96.3 million, or $1.08 per diluted share, in the September 2000 quarter, and down sequentially from $13.1 million, or $0.15 per diluted share, reported in the June 2001 quarter. For the six months ended September 30, 2001, sales were $273.3 million and net earnings were $14.0 million, or $0.16 per diluted share.
