Apparently announced today.

Quicken, one of the ‘first fintechs,’ is being sold again.

As someone who has used Quicken Premier for about 25 years for both my personal accounting and for that of two non-for-profits I was treasurer of, I'm glad to know Quicken's customer base has grown and the company is profitable. Hoping that means the new owners will follow the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule. I moved to the subscription service about a year and a half ago. It's worked well for me. Don't know what I would do if they start messing with the company and screw it up.

The software is what it is. If you want backup(s), download a full copy from the site. What could be problematic is if the back end quit working. Then you could not download transactions or prices.

I have also been a Quicken User since the mid or early 90's. I only use Quicken to generate payments through my bank which has a legacy no-charge bill pay service that may come to an end when a pending merger is completed. But for the most part, I pay all my bills online, then record the transactions manually and wait for the downloaded transactions to reconcile the accounts. with the exception of my new 401k, almost all my accounts are able to automatically download transactions.

Who notes the thing that jumped at him from the article was that there were 60% more customer care representatives than actual employees...
