Quitting Smoking Board FAQ

I. What is the purpose of this board?

Tom Gardner opened this board as a non smoker in hopes of helping at least one person quit smoking. Smokers come here when they want to quit for advice, support, and encouragement. Also to give support, advice, and encouragement to other Fools. Some of us meet here online a few times a week (many of us check in each day).

This FAQ will take you through some of our findings on the board since its launch on August 26, 1999. We will periodically update the FAQ to improve on it. And over the next twenty years, we're going to build a team-based approach for shedding this unhappy and this deadly habit. It takes work. It takes energy. It takes discipline. It takes heart, soul, and an astounding amount of courage. But by matching our wits together. But bringing together our efforts, our energies, our discipline, our heart, soul and our courage, we can quit smoking. You can quit smoking. I hope this FAQ and folder inspires you to get started.

The Silk Quit Tracker is an online tool for tracking the benefits of quitting smoking. It scores how long you've quit, how many cigarettes you haven't smoked, how much money you've saved, and how much time you've added to the end of your life. Most of us who have quit are using it.
