I think some of my negativity on the sector is due to the fact that my nearest mall shares Sears & JCP as two of its three anchors.

As far as mall problems go, Moscow seems (according to an article I read) seems to have it worse than most U.S. malls. The article blamed their problems on the economic sanctions and $40-$50 oil. Reading between the lines, to me there seemed to perhaps have been some overbuilding as well, but perhaps with no sanctions and $140 oil their malls would be full of tenants and shoppers.
