"Do you like Doris Lessing's books? Your comments don't give me hope that I'll like her other books.

Got any book recommendations? Preferably out of print?

Sorry, although I read constantly, that is the only one of hers that I have read. Actually, it was very well written, and when I finished it and realized that she was using one family to dramatize the attitudes of the prolific parents in the fifties and the ramifications of the huge 'boomer' generation upon the face of American family life and its demands on American values. That generation has altered the very fabric of our American civilization, I felt it was worth my time to read it. She is a much deeper writer; certainly more thoughtful than the usual novels.
I had always intended to read more of her books and would enjoy hearing someone else's views on The Fifth Child.
