"Hi Rocky!

"This isn't just as simple as it sounds, so I looked into one of my favorite websites: http://www.investopedia.com/

"And I asked: "what is debt?" I'd like to tell you it is,... well if this, ummm, It depends,... So I just copied the various results for YOU to check out!"

Thanks, hildy. I was trying to figure out what terms that appear on the balance sheet signify debt. I intended to use this to calculate some ratios, like the debt/equity ratio, for example. Your reference mentions the debt/equity ratio, but uses total liabilities to indicate debt. However, I have seen elsewhere that total liabilities include a lot more than total debt, so I remain confused. But thanks for your efforts to deconfuse me.--Rockythecat
