Interesting. We all remember and expect the past problems to come back
and bite again - until the next generation comes along with w whole different
set of issues and disasters. The Depression was a life-shattering event and
became the nightmare scenario for a generation - World War II changed how people
viewed the world itself and became the "never again" basis for the United Nations
as well as the European Union.
What we learn is never quite what returns as the next nightmare - but with enough
cycles we see shifts in the story lines.
