Remember that 800 years ago, cranes and engines were not available.

Experts are having trouble, even now, figuring how to just repair the damage.

Keep in mind that pulleys ,ropes and ladders along with a massive number of humans and
other animals can do wonders. What comes first though - the thought to build a structure
to amaze and enlighten the mind and give joy to the eye regardless of the cost - that is
a matter of creation. Anything built in the mists of time first was conceived - drawn -
materials identified, bought, transported, stored, shaped.
