"In a press release, Ford said its inventory level sat at 631,000 vehicles at the end of November, 122,000 lower than a year ago. The company estimates 85% of the inventory is new 2007 models."

I took a look at that.

Based on the November sales, the current inventory represents about 3.5 months sales....2 months is considered "normal". Not good on the face of it, but we don't know the distribution of the inventory.

If a disproportionate amount of it is minivans and Tauruses, that's not as big a deal since they are discontinued or about to be (not sure on Freestar). I'll have to wait for the Ward's data to come out to know. I suspect that Ford has a pretty big supply of F-Series, Five Hundred, Freestyle, Explorer....and Fusion (sales of Fusion were not good).
