"This is just what I suspected when I thought about the issue after watching the news coverage this evening. Why single out Walmart for low wages when there are plenty of other companies paying just as poorly... or worse? It just doesn't make any sense to me."

The unions salivate over 1.4 million new members, each kicking in 5 or 10 bucks a week in union dues.

Just think how many executive retreats can be funded by that? How many more employees can be added to union rolls. HOw much more extortion they would have if they got Walmart...everyone else would cave one by one. And just think how many politicians they could buy from the union dues of 1.4 million Walmart employees?

That's what it is all about. Power.

Not representing the 'worker' but simply using the worker as a pawn.

The unions would do to Walmart what they just did to Hostess. Thousands of 'work rules'. Grievances all the time. Time wasting grievance hearing and of course, another 10,000 lawyers required for all the complaints........ promotions based on 'seniority' and not merit. and on and on.
