"Until the 60s most states and some federal loan programs enforced segregated communities. In the South they were called Jim Crow laws, in other stated their were red lines drawn on the map where blacks could not rent or buy property. In Europe the Jews lived in ghettos I believe, maybe other races as well."


Frankly, segregation was quite in vogue in the north, the south, the mid-west, the west
and all over the U.S. prior to the 1960s.
Still tends to be norm although the grouping is not by law.

In Europe - in all of Asia - in Africa - in the Middle East - in South America, in Mexico in
Canada there are always groups which are "shunned" - gypsies, hoboes, natives, out castes,
low castes.

There seem to always be folks who see people as different. There are also always people who
value others to a greater or lesser degree.

Melting pots are rather rare - but if you have ever seen a pot of melting materials, you know that
there tends to be splattering. Human beings have flaws. Sometimes flaws get a person shunned.
Sometimes flaws cause a person to generalize an individual's actions to be a general pattern.

Anyone who expects utopia from any society of humans is likely to be disappointed.
If they publicize they're expectations, they are likely to be one of the first folks to be
"re-educated" when utopia does not appear quite as nice as expected.
