"VISX, Incorporated designs and develops proprietary
technology and systems for laser vision correction. For the nine months ended 9/30/99, total revenues totaled $196.1M, up from $91.8M. Net income totaled $66M, up from $8.4M. Revenues reflect increased systems sales and growth in license revenue due to higher procedure volume. Net income reflects the absence of a $35M legal settlement, higher margins and lower S/G/A as a percentage of revenues."--From Visx snapshot.

I live in Philadelphia and these lasik surgery centers are advertising like crazy. My sister in NC just had it done and is thrilled--had to wait months to get surgery done because of demand. Has talked others into it.

PS I'm currently reading GG, so I cannot add much in that area. However, it does seem to me that income rising faster than revenue (8 times vs. 2 times) is a good thing.
