"What is in your 401(K) today is pretty meaningless. We could have another terrorist event tomorrow, and your 401(K) could become a 201(K) in the joke that became all too weary in the aftermath of 9-11 and Enron in 2001. Or the cure for cancer could be found and no one would ever die (OK, slight sarcasm here) and a paltry million or two in your 401(K) wouldn't begin to be enough for your new life expectancy in retirement. A lot of things could happen."

Ahh, the old "live for today, for tomorrow you may die" school of planning.

Of course, most Americans retire with little or nothing.

This is the mind set guaranteed to ensure that you will be eating government-provided dog food in your retirement!
