It appears, some places in the world aren't safe for travel and leisure. We've witnessed kidnappings as close as Mexico, although there, they primarily want to run through all the available credit and debit before dumping their captives. Others around the world want more it seems, millions in the cases of those in Malaysia and the Phillipines.

Then, we see ambiguous stories of a foreign and our government providing or facilitating ransom demands. Smoke can be seen by both sides.

This is so wrong and sends the worst possible message to the thugs and bandits in these lawless areas of uncivilized and ungoverned countries.

There should be serious state dept. travel bans on Americans and barring that, and in spite of the attractive advertising, one final mandatory requirement, hand all these travelers a copy of a letter from the US government before they board the plane stating, "HELLO!...You're on your own....

....don't call Uncle Sam or expect our military folks to save your be-hinds when the 'bad' guys get ya."

No more lives lost of our servicemen because of stupid Americans who can't wait to travel to places anyone with a clue knows is a gamble, no matter how beautiful the scenery.
