Rates have gone WAY down in the last year to year-and-a-half. It's gotten to the point that the loss of convenience is not worth the low interest rates for most people.

As far as I'm concerned I haven't lost any convenience going with USAA. Also, their savings account still pays a half-decent rate and I keep most of the money I have at USAA in that account.

As it stands, the lowering of interest rates makes USAA even more attractive, especially when compared with other online banks. Their 0.5% cash back on debit card purchases now more than ever makes it possible to earn more with USAA than you would with a competing bank's checking interest rate.
