Rather they are very good mysteries that happen to feature vampires, ghouls, and zombies. They are NOT great literature, but they are very good reads.

I have read three of Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake books - the first two and then "Blue Moon", and promptly lost the thread of the story. Now, I have to go back and read the rest of the books in sequence.

I made the mistake of reading the books at night. Note to self: read only in the daytime. The books are a fun read, but necromancy is scary.

Three months ago, I had never heard of this author. One day, while browsing in the sci-fi section of one of my fav used books stores, a strange woman approached me and recommended a series of books about a vampire hunter named Anita Blake who had a boyfriend werewolf and/or vampire. She did not remember the author's name. Several weeks later, I found "Nightseer" which led me to the Anita Blake books.

Unfortunately, the people who buy Hamilton's books keep them. There are none to be found in the used books stores. My next step is to buy them as paperbacks at the chain bookstores.

Need to catch up with the books, the next A. Blake book "Narcissus in Chains" is due out in October (according to one of the websites - read an excerpt a few weeks ago).
