Amazing isn't it! Even when you consider that the Minimum Wage in 1955 was $.75/hr (which, even when adjusted for inflation, only had the purchasing power of about $5/hr today) people had to consider the impact of spending $16.

Another thing that's different today; I'll bet your folks were paying cash, or financing for 24 months or less!
