It sounds like they're having to make tough and critical decisions. Every business group in the company can make a case for not being sold, but the list gets very short if one division is responsible for the majority of your revenue, and another is highly identified with your core competency. Other divisions may be too small to be worth selling. Logic may drive them to uncomfortable options.
