reallyalldone asks,

So if you are waiting until 70 for social security, what happens when you have to take RMDs and then when one of you becomes single ?

</snip>

I'm doing large annual roth conversions from age 65 to 72 to whittle down the size of my IRA before the RMDs kick in and I start SS at age 70. The goal is to level out my Federal tax burden so that I don't see a spike in my tax bracket when the RMDs start at 72.

I may also buy a new hybrid electric vehicle to take advantage of the $7,500 tax credit to further reduce my tax burden.

Lot's of tools in the tool kit for those that keep up.
