Reitnut (Ralph Block) is a shining example of The Motley Fools motto, "To Educate, Amuse & Enrich."

Reitnut literally wrote the book on REITs. (I bought this book. It's very good and now in its fourth edition.)

Despite his work as an author and writing his own blog, Reitnut always graciously shares his deep knowledge of REITs with TMF members on the REIT Board.

Asking Reitnut a question is like having a talking book that soon responds with a personal reply.

Here are some of Reitnut's best posts for 2013. (With thanks to zoofreak.)

Reitnut's posts are always well-thought out and full of analysis and specific recommendations.

Reitnut is also a consummate gentleman. No matter what the question, Reitnut always answers it patiently. Reitnut is kind, reliable and consistent. I feel the greatest respect for Reitnut, one of the most distinguished members of TMF.

Reitnut has long been a Feste Award runner-up. It's about time that his great contributions to TMF are recognized with a Feste Award and the coveted gold-and-green plaque.

I just hope he doesn't get lost in the shuffle.

Remember, it's an honor just to be nominated.

Absolutely! Reitnut was nominated years ago. He has had his silver-and-blue plaque to honor him. But I still think Reitnut would feel pretty good to be recognized for his contributions with the Feste Award.

I absolutely agree, but I also agree that he is likely to get lost in the crowd, seeing as he's in just one little corner of TMF.

He has been doing this from before Day 0, too. Ralph was one of the original posters on the REIT board back in the day when TMF was just a small part of America Online (AOL), way back in the last century.

Thanks for nominating him, Wendy.

Yes, Reitnut for Feste Awardee!

I have profited from his posts, but more, when I requested help on an obscure REIT matter he responded courteously, generously, completely, educationally and (in retrospect!), accurately.

EXEMPLARY FOOL!

Thank you for recommending this post to our Best of feature.

Few (if any) on TMF add as much as Reitnut (Ralph Block) does.

I have followed Ralph for many years and he has done much to educate me on both REITs and preferred stocks.

if it was not for ralph block and his knowledge of the reit sector,i would have never been interested in reits, but after reading his book and trusting his view points, positions and ideas. i became a reit investor. i have read, and re-read many of posts, and invested with confidence.he has the ability to convey his thoughts and ideas to the less experience investor, which starting out 10 years ago in the reit land that was very important.i can not think of any one more deserving that ralph block for this award.

There is an old phrase "A gentleman and a scholar." In the quotation thesaurus it features Ralph's picture.

Early in my investment career I bought reitnut's book and I had questions. I sent him a personal email (via E-Mail this Reply to the Author). He answered my message directly and promptly.

I believe I contacted him again later about an investment I had a question about. He also answered promptly.

Since then, I have read everything he has written that I can find. Even with all his skill and knowledge he is always ready to teach and share. He is humble and down to earth.

I could not imagine anyone more worthy of the feste award than Ralph.

By all means! REITNUT is the reason for the current TMF REIT board. He was coaxed over to TMF by Yorick(Parisuer) who started this marvelous gab fest and set the polite tone of this 16+ year conversation.

I"m suuprised that Michael didn't get some kind of award from TMF for pleading his case to Ralph:

http://boards.fool.com/wheres-reitnut-11184289.aspx?sort=who...

Then, read the whole thread. While Michael started the conversation and set the tone, it was REITNUT who wove the banner, waved the flag, and kept the conversation going for the years that followed since.

Ask yourself, how many would would still be reading TMF and the goings on of Beauregard and Sammy, Ralph,s beloved straight men, if REITNUT gave up and retired his quill pen?

Vote for Ralph!

Gear
