<<<<I have been very interested in the comments about annuities, and would appreciate some advice. I am 69 years old, and retired this year. I have about 200K+ in Merrill Lynch and separate discount brokers, and am looking for monthly income. I am alone with many friends but no surviving family, so there is no inheritances to worry about.

I am looking at annuities hard, altho I will keep some funds in the equities stock market. I would appreciate any advice. Do annuities make sense for me?>>>>

I just want to mention that Charitable Remainder Trusts are an option that might fit here, especially if there are large capital gains involved.

I covered several details of my experience in posts #11 and #14 on the "Retired Fools" board. There are also discussions there of other options. It is a fairly new board. At the top of this page, click on "Folders," locate "Fools of a Feather" and within that group locate "Retired Fools."

Good Luck!! If you have questions, respond to this post or post on the "Retired Fools" board and I will try to help.
