I've hated this guy's schtick since the first time I saw it; I pegged him as a scammer long before it came out that he lied about the existence of both a 'rich dad' and a 'poor dad'. I think I remember that his 'poor dad' was supposedly his actual dad, which means that he would sell out his own family for a buck. So, it's no surprise that his company had to file for bankruptcy because of his obvious character flaws. The problem is that he shafted the other guy by making sure that his personal assets were outside of the sham company.

I always had trouble with this too. While my father was not perfect, I would never throw him under the bus like that. He loved me in his own way and gave me all that he had to give. A person can ask for no more.

Honor thy father and thy mother.

Mike Sullivan, CEO of Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Co., told us that Kiyosaki, said to be worth $80 million, was still doing very well thanks to investments in other companies: “The dealings we had with Learning Annex were with a company that hasn’t been in business for a number of years . . . I am not surprised Learning Annex is upset and angry, the money doesn’t exist in that company, and we can’t bring money out of the group.

“Robert and [wife] Kim are not paying out of personal assets. We have a few million dollars in this company, but not 16 or 20. I can’t do anything about a $20 million judgment . . . We got hit for what we think is a completely outlandish figure.”

He won't be hurting too bad. Just one of his companies is going down. Sounds like the reason he was sued for so much is because he operated unethically and refused to pay what was owed.

I hated his 1st book. Started reading it and it sounded good until about 1/3 of the way through. Then I realized he was just another real estate hoaxer. I stopped reading and returned the book to the library.

I really like Dave Ramsey's books and teaching guides. It is simplistic but I often give his bookds to HS and college grads since that is as financially sophisticated as most poeple are ever going to get. But Dave likes Kiyosaki and sells his "Rich dad" book on his website. Big negative. Kiyosaki and his slamming of his 'poor dad', if he ever existed, was very dishonoring. It also made Kiosaki look very materialistic and greedy. As if money defines who a person is. Don't get me wrong. Having $ is the way to go. But a jerk with $ is just a bigger jerk.

Here's where I have issue with Mr Reed:

•"Marine corps made him what he is today" - he was laterally transferred to the Marine Corp from the Merchant Marine and Navy, he never went through the entry-level Marine training

So what? I never went to Marine boot camp either, but who is to say that my tour with the USMC as a Hospital Corpsman did or did not have a meaningful effect on my life?

Became a helicopter pilot to "lead men" (platoon leaders and company commanders lead men; pilots lead machinery)

Mr Reed, you have no idea what you are talking about. Officers lead -- all officers. Obviously, some more than others. But as a pilot he was in charge of his flight crew and undoubtedly stood duty as Officer In Charge of whatever unit he was assigned to when the Commanding Officer was not available.

Given this clueless hatchet job, I have grave doubts about the credibility of Mr Reed's criticism. He is coming across as nit-picking and clueless. Probably something personal.

YOu need to read the original criticism of Kiyosaki......

For all we knew, kiyosaki ferried supplies behind the lines.....never saw a bullet in his life flying through the air...otherwise he would have made a big deal out of it. He didn't. For all we know, the war was over by the time he got there. ......or he was really a co-pilot and never made pilot.....

Ever read one of his books? It's all hype, distortion....

Why does John T. Reed think he knows so much? I've found Reed's advice to be speculative at best.

Because he has products he wants you to buy.
