AlsoChorizo posted a reply in this thread that has the clip of his role in Rocky Horror Picture Show, which I either didn't know or forgot.

(I notice he had Covid. He was a staple at Trump rallies in 2016 I believe).

Here's the definitive interview about 'Bat Out of Hell' (link below) during the 40th anniversary celebration of the blockbuster album. Todd Rundgren, who produced the album, talks about the record being a parody of Bruce Springsteen, who was being promoted at the time as Rock's savior, and the famous the 'wall of sound'. He even got Max Weinberg and Roy Bittan from the E Street Band to play on the album (although neither knew it was a Springsteen spoof).

For Jim Steinman, the album was a retelling of Peter Pan.

Rundgren: "He keeps retrying to tell the story of Peter Pan in one form or another. And so just imagine Meat Loaf as Peter Pan."

Rundgren also talks about getting stuck with the production/recording bill for the album because, in trying to get the album signed and distributed for two-and-half years, no label wanted it.

When he was asked if there was a point where he thought “okay, yeah, we’ve actually got something here” Rundgren replied: "Yeah, it was when I got my first royalty check." The check was $700,000 or $800,000, the biggest check he'd ever seen in his life.

Rundgren talked about the complex melodies in the background vocals, Meat Loaf's proposal to his wife, and much more.

Even more interesting to those of us old enough to remember certain things. You must listen to all of it. Beyond strange stuff.

I'm sorry for anyone who dies a horrible death from covid...if less so for those who chose every day not to vax, chose every day not to mask, and especially who chose to influence the weak-minded against their own and public health.

While I've heard of Meatloaf and can recognize his face, I remain unfamiliar with his music. I heard a snippet from Bat out of Hell this morning on NPR, and AFAIK I'd never heard it before.

I like his nickname, though.

Good God almighty, why are you so reactive. If you were not so knee jerk responsive you might learn some rather fascinating stuff other folks have experienced.

It has zip to do with Politics! Anyways, your loss.

Someone said that Meatloaf was an actor who acted like he could sing.

Meatloaf said that was about right.

Trumper? Ugh.

"Paradise By the Dashboard Light" - A great, great song about male teenage sexual desire and possible consequences. Clever lyrics and often damn funny. And Phil Rizzuto!

I hate to think about how he was a Trumper, but so it goes.

You do realize that having Trump ( or most anything else) ever on your mind is a choice YOU make each and every day.

The music was crap.

I prefer to think of him as the William Shatner of the rock musical.

Someone said that Meatloaf was an actor who acted like he could sing.

I saw him on SNL once. During a break in the lyrics he put on an oxygen mask and breathed in great gulps from the attached tank, the inference being that he was such a darned intense performer that he needed the oxygen just to get through the song. Gimme a break. I remember thinking "This Meatloaf is a ham."

It's a bit of a "tender subject" (see Dr. Frank n Furter) but Weber BBQ Grills published a meatloaf recipe on the day of his death.

An unfortunate coincidence--apologies letters were sent to all.
