I have been reading some of the posts and have realized that the annuity my wife has is probably a poor investment. We would like to open an IRA. Is there a way to roll-over the value of the annuity into an IRA? Conversely, if this is not possible, does it make sense to walk away from this annuity now, possibly losing the money contributed towards it, and use the money that was going toward it in an IRA? My wife's been making monthly payments of $75 for the last 3 years for this annuity. Thanks
