Super's,
Shortly after AMSC bought Windtec, there was discussion of HTS technology making it possible for a wind turbine of a given weight & size to generate twice as much juice.
Looks like AMSC & GE have a grant to develop this:

AMSC's HTS Wire, Motor and Wind Turbine Design Strengths to be Coupled with Advanced Stator Technology and Manufacturing Expertise from TECO-Westinghouse National Institute of Science and Technology to Fund Development of Technologies for 10 Megawatt-Class, Direct Drive Offshore Wind Generators Powered by HTS Wire
These technolgy projects tend to fuel other projects.  Any advance in the use of HTS in rotating equipment (motors or generators or Super VARS)  is a good thing.
