Rule number one of investing is past performance does not predict the future. Of course, good stock pickers have a skill that give them an advantage, but can they reduce that to bottom line profits?

In your 8 to 10 years, have you learned to spot the winners (and exploit them to the max) and avoid the losers (or at least dump them promptly)? Are you becoming a better manager of the information? Or is this all a random event?

Index fund is the safe play, but if you think you can do better keep trying. Keep learning.
