United Airlines is fighting to survive in a struggling market. The events of September 11 are wreaking havoc on the aviation industry. It really is just a matter of time before Americans (yes, us) forget about our fears of flying (realizing it is safer tham walking or driving)and take to the skies. But until that point - how can we keep this corporation afloat? I have some ideas that will work... now, is anyone listening? Good.
1) Buy back common stock. That gives the company more control of the on goings of the corporation allowing them to, in essence, move like a much smaller entity.
2) Fire all but essential personnel. Hey, it works for Blue (not the dog, the Airline) Tell the workers that the airline is restructuring and tough cookies about their jobs. Then tell the Executive board they will be helping out with the customer service end of the product, you know, roll up your sleeves and help out. They have to EARN their pay check or "G'bye."
3) Massive ad campaign. Get the word out. Unload "Rhapsody in Blue" get a new song... a new faster paced look. Let Madison Ave do what they are paid for.

The only other way is by:
4) Replacing the Chicken Coquette with apples and crackers.
