SD may become the storage of the future, but right now you
pay a premium for the form factor. I don't think most cameras
the size benefit is really that big an issue, plus you might need
yet another reader for your computer (unless you xfer stuff via cable)

The computer world is all into miniaturization becoming smaller is
better, but I find sd cards too small for general purposes myself,
with my big hands fingers. (I have a palm m500 that use one)

But you will see cellphones, and other handheld devices using that
format. Personally I just bought a CF 128, for our 3mp cannon, and
that is probably sufficient for my wife and I to go on vacation for
a week.

CF format is here to stay for a long time...

I would really be afraid of loosing my SD cards if I didn't keep them
in my devices.
