Different sites start and end their days at different times....but at least according to Worldometer's running totals, today's daily death toll from Covid has now surpassed the previous high: more than 2,800 dead today, compared to the prior daily high of 2,744 on April 21:

We're right back where we were seven months ago - super-high rates of community transmission, hospitalization rates that are stressing the health care system, and Covid once again is the number one cause of death for Americans (heart disease, the long-time champ, "only" kills about 1,800 people per day).

We’re up to 9/11 levels of deaths per day.

Back then folks enlisted in the armed forces to go fight America’s enemies.. over there.

Now, many of those same people aren’t even willing to wear a mask in order to fight a very real enemy.... over here.

That's because they think a mask only protects other people--and they don't care about other people.

It really doesn't look good when the effects of 50 million people traveling for Thanksgiving have not even started to show up in the numbers, and Christmas is right around the corner.

Meanwhile Trump golfs, spreads conspiracy theories, and says "let the governors handle it." But he invented the vaccine.

Seems Like Old Times

So this is what GOP/Trump supporters have been longing for . . . the good ole days?

I think they are fine with all the suffering, long-term organ damage, and death as long as they keep minorities "in their place", piss off the Press, and own the libs.

The difference is we are not shut down, healthcare workers ALL OVER THE COUNTRY are exhausted beyond anything like the first giant wave. Those original US high covid cases and deaths were mostly concentrated in a few key spots and health care workers were recruited to help out. Now the conflagration is all over the country and I don't think there are fresh healthcare workers available to travel to a few hot spots.

We are in an extremely dire place. Below is from a steve203 xpost currently on Best of. This is specific to Tennessee, but it is still true in many, many states, most of them in the center of the country.

The White House Coronavirus Task Force warns the COVID-19 risk to Americans is at a historic high and has jarring new recommendations for Tennesseans ahead of an expected post-Thanksgiving virus surge, a report obtained by 10News said.

Tennesseans older than 65 must avoid indoor spaces where people are unmasked. People under 40 must assume they were infected during Thanksgiving celebrations as COVID-19 hits a "very dangerous place," the task force warned.

"It must be made clear that if you are over 65 or have significant health conditions, you should not enter any indoor public spaces where anyone is unmasked due to the immediate risk to your health; you should have groceries and medications delivered," the report said.
