American Superconductor to sell $80 mln in equity
WASHINGTON, Jan 24 (Reuters) - American Superconductor Corp. (NasdaqNM:AMSC - news), developer and maker of products using superconducting materials for electric power applications, filed on Monday to sell up to $80 million in common stock.

The company said it plans to use the proceeds from the offering to expand its manufacturing operations and other general corporate purposes, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

The underwriters for the offering include Banc of America Securities LLC, CIBC World Markets and Robertson Stephens.

Shares in the Westborough, Mass.-based company fell 2-13/16 to 31-15/16 on Nasdaq.
