I am going to manage my own money now after years with a full-service broker. I plan on holding an index fund plus a few stocks, and keeping some cash handy in a money market and bonds.

I am anxious to change my situation, but since the market is down, I wonder if I should wait to sell my holdings in mutual funds? The expense ratio on them is 1.96%. If I do wait, what do I look to as my barometer of when to sell?
