"Shall we try socialism? What a great idea -- Cuba, North Korea and Venezuela as our models and pole stars! Ought to be an effective formula for weight loss.

A continuing problem with left-wingery -- a problem not grasped by some of the analysts -- is that it doesn't work. Socialists, as Maggie Thatcher astutely observed, always run out of other people's money. They can't replace it of course with their own. Socialism isn't about creating wealth; it's about grabbing someone else's."

There are so many YouTube videos that clearly demonstrate what's on the minds of the takers. No one can dispute that Socialism will only accelerate these attitudes.

Picture the American economy as a car. It was stalled on the side of the highway when Obama took office. Obama has since taken the wheels off and put them in the trunk, put solar cells on the top of the car and poured soybeans in the gas tank. Right before the election, Obama painted racing stripes on the car and the media found that to be fantastic. Romney told people what was going on, and told them that he would put the tires back on, remove the soybeans and put in gas, and get the car back on the road, but voters were apparently more concerned that Romney might throw away the birth control pills in the back seat.

So, here we sit on the side of the road for another four years, with some people thinking that stripping the car down will really punish those rich b@stards.

What it really appears was the situation, and this is based on the voter turnout -- note the turnout is what killed Romney

Those birth control pills in the backseat? They really were the key, too many folks knew they were going to get screwed either way and figured at least they wouldn't get pregnant.

Now I do not agree, I though Romney would have been a decent President. But the problem is no one saw enough difference to bother voting for Romney, so they stayed home.

They will be punished for that decision. Unfortunately, they will convince themselves they were not wrong and that there was no difference.

They will howl at the moon for someone who could not get elected and put Hillary in to cement Obama's 'progress' then they will convince themselves again that the other guy would be no better.

Sorry, but liberalism is not the only disease out there IMO

Watch for Michelle Owebama to be presented as a viable candidate, the idea being that Barack Hussein will be the de facto president for eight more years.

Great analogy, but it goes a little further. While the media was oooing and ahhing over the wind turbine that Obama glued to the hood of the car, he was back at the auto plant selling off pieces of it to pay the car's Social Sec-, I mean, insurance bill. At his press conference he hailed a new era of transportation for cars without wheels.

Venezuela's actually doing rather well, compared to its sister-country, Colombia.

I think it's simply a matter of changing demographics in the United States. The white man isn't King anymore. It ain't your Caucasian grandpa's United States no more.

It's your African American, Latin American, Asian American, Jewish American, Oldster-Hippie-American, American-Indian, United States and they've taken over.

Your comment surprised me because I had heard otherwise, so I looked it up.

[Planning and finance minister Jorge Giordani] argued that Venezuela’s current period of economic growth is a result of President Hugo Chavez’s social spending policies. “Social policies, including those implemented in a determined manner by President [Chavez], today allows us to have a solid base of growth that translates into human happiness,” he said.

I hope you are kidding because this website is a joke that could only be taken seriously by Sean Penn. Check out the biographies of some of its writers:

http://venezuelanalysis.com/about

Rachael Boothroyd is from Liverpool, England, where she has been involved in the anti-war movement and the student movement...Her interests include alternative models of democracy such as the communes and workers control councils

Federico Fuentes is a regular contributor to the Australian based newspaper Green Left Weekly

Tamara Pearson, previously a member of the Australian Socialist Alliance and collaborator with Green Left Weekly

Ewan Robertson is from Scotland, United Kingdom. An active socialist in his own country, he was involved for several years in the student and anti-war movements.

Gregory Wilpert is one of the two co-founders of venezuelanalysis.com... and also worked for a little while for the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

A little more about Venezuela, some of which I've already posted:

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000087239639044402420457804...

Since coming to power 14 years ago, Mr. Chávez has manufactured dependency on a scale unseen elsewhere in the post-Soviet world. He has nationalized farms, steel mills, cement factories, telecoms and the assets of foreign oil companies. His government subsidizes everything from oil to milk. Government spending, much of it on cheap housing, has risen at a blowout rate of 30% in the past year alone.

The result? Chronic shortages of everything from oil to milk. A 24% inflation rate. A homicide rate that in 2011 clocked in at 67 per 100,000 people — nearly five times the rate in Mexico. Latin America's lowest growth in GDP per capita over the past decade, despite record-high oil prices. Constant devaluations. The diversion of an estimated $100 billion in recent years to a slush fund controlled exclusively by Mr. Chávez. Rolling blackouts. A credit rating on a par with Ghana's and Bolivia's. The steady degradation of the country's once formidable oil company, PdVSA.

The only bright spot, according to the BBC, is that Venezuela "now boasts the fairest income distribution in Latin America." Isn't that wonderful?

Voters got concerned when he started strapping his dog to the top of the car.
