Now if you go by the statistics that those who attend religious services weekly are more likely to vote conservative, then, yes, you may think that the Christian left is not as well an organized force. However, besides Wallis, mentioned in the article I linked, there are also things like the "Evangelical Environmental Network," and several mainstream Protestant churches seem to include a healthy (?) dose of left-wing politics in some of the denominations. Interestingly, some of the people attracted to these kinds of churches become prominent politicians (e.g., Barack Obama).

It sounds like you're asking me to stereotype some group of people. I avoid doing that as much as I can. And I don't think it's a vexing problem. It only is if you're trying to put people into neat boxes and they don't fit. Forget the boxes. Deal with the ideas and the debate, not the people.

I'm not arguing with you or asking you to stereotype anyone. But if you are dealing with "ideas and debate," and you find that the opposing ideas in said debate are based on false premises, then what do you think? If you don't ponder this, so be it.

Many people have turned Liberal into a derogatory label. I consider myself a Liberal in most of my political views.

Me, too! (Maybe in a slightly different way.) ;)

At the same time I love and support Israel, but not all of its government's policies. Therefore I resent the labeling that tends to lump me in with other people whose views may be quite different from mine.

Are you saying that I resemble that remark? Look, I disagree with some policies of the Israeli government, too. I guess finding someone who agrees 100% is impossible, at least in the long term.

Just so you know (and you don't have to care), even though we may at times disagree, I do respect your views because I think your views are stated in good faith. Heck, we may even agree more than you or I think. I was not trying to "label" you, so if I gave you that impression I apologize.

Again, I get back to my original point -- If some want to bring up the subject of "Christian Zionists" (with the implication that this represents the religions right) as being bad for Israel, then maybe the same people should give attention to views expressed by prominent religious leftists.
