My son is leaving his current employer, where he has a Simple IRA. So far, he has contributed $8,750 to the account.

His new employer offers a rather normal, standardized 401-k plan. For this calendar year, how much additional can he defer into the new 401-k plan and not exceed any limits?

I know this has probably been asked and answered before, but I can't find anything reasonably current.
