Greetings,

Apparently the SSA is freezing the payment to some or all accts for the six months' worth of retroactive benefits.

My wife applied for Spousal Benefits with a restricted application so her benefits could grow to age 70, and for the 6 months retro benefits. SSA flagged the app as fraud, but is sending her regular monthly benefit check.
The SSA agent said we would have to go into an SSA office and show our IDs + Certified Marriage License. The SSA offices are closed.

Does anyone have any info on the Freezing of the retro benefits ?

Many thanks,

Tom
