"My wife is currently employed by the state and has PERS retirement. She also has the option of opening a 403b with no match. I also have a Roth ira. Would it be foolish to put money into a non-matching 403 or put "X" % into the Roth?"

It's hard to say without more info, however wife may benefit from putting the first $2000/year into Roth (for the tax-free benefits at retirement) before putting money into the non-matching 403b... Look into the actual benefits in your case!

Good luck, PP
