So glad I read this thread. I'm in the process of weaning myself off of my Merrill Lynch advisor. She's done OK. Better than others I've used and especially in the past five years when the market has been so bad.

But I recently had a conversation with her about being more agressive and moving from funds to individual stocks. She read me what must be the doom and gloom, you'll loose all your retirement funds and she specifically pointed out the DDD that I purchased last year at $30 as a dangerous stock.

I was feeling anxious about pulling the plug but reading this made me realize once again that those advisors exist to make themselves rich and not make me rich.
