Since I'm losing in CAPS today, I thought I'd change the subject. Here goes...

To Whom It May Concern:

Frankly, I think John Updike is vastly overrated. His books are boring and I find his thinly-veiled self-portayals as a sex god revolting. And while I think both John Irving and Tom Wolfe are more interesting writers than Updike, all three can pretty much be summed up as lecherous old men at this point in their careers. I mean, Wolfe's I Am Charlotte Simmons novel was a capital "D" debacle.

And did you know Updike went to Harvard and now enjoys whisking younger women away to the Hamptons?

It's with that in mind that I recommend this McSweeney's piece. It's hilarious and makes for an extra good read on a day when the market is making me feel small:

Over and out,
