We have a decent working relationship but different philosophies. He's more live to work whereas I'm work to live. However, I have broached the topic of taking a mini-break from work (maybe 4-6 weeks) in order to do some things I'd like to do. He seems open to the idea but it would need to be vetted by upper management and HR.
